Bidding in competition can be the most difficult of all auctions. When the opponents are taking away your bidding space your bids can become ambiguous. This is a series of lessons where we go over almost every common sequence imaginable. This week we will work on negative doubles. We won’t just be dealing with the double, but on how the auction develops after that, especially if the opponents bid more. In future weeks we will work on takeout doubles, responsive doubles, overcalls, bidding after the opponents preempt, and support doubles. In all cases we will have a lecture and then bid a lot of hands. No playing. Grab your favorite partner and come on down. I can get you a partner if you need one.
