It is time we take your analytical skills up a notch or two. This defense course is not just about simple attitude and suit preference signals. There is much you can figure out just by examining the first play of the hand. We will teach you how to figure out who has the cards that are missing, and then how to formulate a plan to prevent the declarer from making his/her contract.
Each week in Beyond Beginner Defense. we will teach you to figure out various defense scenarios and help you make a plan for the defense. It’s all about making you better defenders.
Beyond Beginner Defense will be a 3 lesson mini course beginning on Tuesday, May 17 ,and continue for 3 weeks. You may take the class Tuesday mornings from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, Eastern Time, or you can attend the evening session on Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:30 PM. You may also take both sessions as repetition is valuable, at no additional cost. If you miss a week, you will receive a recording so that you will never miss out. You do not need a partner to participate.
Joe Byrnes and Jeffrey Badler have teamed up to bring you several mini courses. Joe is one of the country’s elite professional players and two-time recipient of Teacher of the Year award. Jeff is one of our club’s most popular instructor, focusing on absolute beginners, novice players and advanced beginners. Beyond Beginner Defense is their 7th mini course partnership. The first were focused on making you better bidders and declarers. Half the time, your team is defending, so we are shifting focus to elevate your game from a different point of view.
You will find the backup materials very useful and easy to understand. There will be pre-lesson exercises and class notes, and you will be provided copies of the hands and a recording to review and practice after class. The goal is not just to teach you some new techniques. The goal is to get you to a point where you can figure out how to form a plan to stop the declarer from making his contract.
